Why are your prices higher than some other photographers?
I provide a personalized, one-client-at-a-time experience. I never schedule multiple couples or groups during your reserved time, allowing me to focus entirely on you. My documentary approach, local knowledge, and over 20 years of living and working in Japan help create authentic images rather than rushed tourist snapshots.
Do you photograph more than one client during my session?
No. Your reserved time is dedicated exclusively to you or your group.
Do you speak English?
Yes. I am a native English speaker and have lived and worked in Japan for over 20 years. I also speak Japanese, which allows me to communicate comfortably with both international travelers and local communities. I can help you feel relaxed during your session while also providing cultural guidance when needed.
Can you help me choose a location?
Yes. After your booking is confirmed, I’ll recommend locations based on the season, time of day, crowds, and the style you’re looking for.
Can you help me plan a surprise proposal?
Absolutely. Proposal sessions include guidance on selecting a suitable location and coordinating the timing so the moment feels natural while remaining discreet.
Are children and families welcome?
Yes, although my specialty is solo travelers, couples, engagements, and surprise proposals. Please contact me if your group has more than two people so we can discuss the best option.
Can we shoot inside temples or shrines?
Photography policies vary by location, and we always respect the rules of each site. Some areas prohibit photography altogether.
What should we wear?
Comfortable clothing that reflects your personality photographs best. Because Kyoto’s temples and shrines are sacred places, I recommend modest, respectful clothing. Very revealing outfits or attire that could be mistaken for wedding clothing may not be appropriate in certain locations.
What if we rent kimono?
Kimono sessions are welcome. We simply remain respectful of the customs and rules of each location we visit.
Will you carry our bags or personal belongings?
No. Please bring only what you need for the session. I need to stay mobile and focused on creating your photographs.

Can we meet or plan everything before booking?
I answer general questions before booking, but detailed planning, location recommendations, itineraries, and proposal coordination begin after your reservation is confirmed. This allows me to dedicate my time to confirmed clients while ensuring every booking receives the attention it deserves.
