Earth tones — terracotta, cream, soft blues — photograph beautifully against Venice's stone-and-water palette. Avoid neon, large logos, and pure white (the lagoon light blows it out). Comfortable closed-toe shoes are non-negotiable: Venice is built on uneven flagstones and you will walk two to four kilometres during a session. Spring (April–May): light layers, one wool overcoat for the morning fog. Days swing between 12°C dawn and 22°C afternoon. Summer (June–August): linen and natural fabrics — humidity is real and 30°C+ days are common. Avoid black if you are shooting midday outdoors. Fall (September–November): the most photogenic season. A statement coat, scarf, and boots read beautifully against Venice's grey stone. Cooler light, fewer tourists. Winter (December–March): a statement coat is your main outfit; one pop of colour (red scarf, mustard hat) lifts a winter frame. During Carnival weeks you can rent a full Venetian costume from one of the artigiano shops on Calle Lunga San Barnaba.
